| If there
is one thing that we could share with you about
marketing your web site it would be this:
Building a web site
is generally a great idea. However, the design, code,
and function are not the only factors to consider when
developing a site.
What you do with the
site once it is live for the world to see makes an
enormous difference. Here
are some general ideas of how to drive more traffic to
your web site. These ideas are just a few, be creative
and attempt a few of your own.
- Make sure your web
address is clearly printed on all collateral materials such as: business cards,
letterhead, envelopes, brochures,
postcards, outgoing packages, return address
stamps and labels.
- Record a new
message on your
outgoing voicemail to include your web site
address. You might add a tagline that says
something like this: "For more information about
our company, visit on the web at www.yourdomain.com"
- If you ship
packages to current and new customers, you should
have a decent size stamp or stickers made with
your domain name on it and apply to all outgoing
parcels.
- If you currently
have a yellow page advertisement, make sure that
the next phonebook printing includes your web
address. If you have a general listing, you
may consider upgrading your size to include your
domain name.
- If your company
budget allows: radio, television, billboard or print
advertising; make your web address heard and seen in these
mediums.
- With every
opportunity that arises: grand opening, grand
re-opening, business anniversary, achievement
awards, new business deals; write a press
release on your business' behalf to your local news venues. Free press is the best kind of
advertising.
- Send direct mail postcard
invitations to all your current and possible new
customers to visit your web site for a special
gift percentage
off their next purchase online.
